Was amazing. I haven't been so stoked after going to a convention in some time but this one is too good to not write about. Also, I haven't written in this damn thing in months, so hey....how's it hanging? More to the point of why I am stoked. I got some commissioned art from two of my favorite web comic artists. So, I have this love for the Cthulhu mythos as well as a love for PVP Online. Well, I met Scott Kurtz and not only did I buy his "How to make webcomics book," I also had him draw me this:
Best Sketch Ever
I also met Jeph Jaques, author of Questionable Content. I didn't get to say much to him since he was busy drawing stuff for people all day but good news... He drew for me too. Check it.
Other highlights were finding some awesome posters and comics regarding Cthulhu and Warhammer which I snapped up, as well as the special edition Illidan figure from WoW. It now basks atop my fridge, where it will no doubt collect dust, in all its glory. Met Mike and Jerry from Penny Arcade and had them sign a poster I bought. It amazes me how humble they are since they're going to throw a convention that will no doubt blow this one out of the goddamn water.
If any of you watch Battlestar Galactica, I got to go to a QA panel with Jamie Bamber or however you spell his name. He plays Apollo on the show. It's amusing to me since he actually has such a strong English accent as opposed to the show, hearing him talk for an hour is somewhat odd. It feels like he's dicking with you and then you remember that's his actual voice. I did get to ask him a question which was neat. Can't say I've ever gotten to ask a celebrity something on the other end of a microphone.
Saw Iron Man which was by far one of the best comic book movies I've ever seen. Stay after the credits if you don't know, it's well worth waiting to pee. After the movie we had a grand time getting accosted by a homeless man asking for dimes. I actually thought either Dan was going to get a shiv in his ribs or we were going to kick a crazy methed out bum through a window of Gameworks. Turns out bums love dimes but god damnit do the hate pennies.
